Earlier this week we hosted a Docker meetup at our offices in San Jose.
I’ve been attending meetups since 2009 and have found them to be a great place to learn new things and meet people. So when I got a chance to become a Docker Santa Clara co-organizer, I jumped at the opportunity.
With help from Docker, we were able to come up with an awesome lineup of speakers:
Al Tobey from DataStax gave an introduction to Docker – where he combined the 2048 game, Cassandra and a Wii balance board. Check out Al’s docker image which you can run for yourself.
Fig, a tool to setup Docker based development environments was demoed and explained by Chris Conley from Real Scout.
My colleague, Sid Gupta – who participated in the recent DockerCon Hackathon – talked about Docker Orchestration with ElectricFlow and gave a demo of a blue/green deployment using Docker containers.
You can check out this short demo in this video:
Also, if you’re into that sort of thing- you may want to check out the video for our Docker Hackathon winning project.
If you have any questions on how we integrated Docker with ElectricFlow – hit me up on the Comments section, or on Twitter: @therealnikhil
After so many years of being an attendee it felt good to organize an event and give back to the community. It was great to see the interest and the great response we’ve gotten from all those in the room. Thanks to all the speakers and to everyone who attended!
