Forrester, a leading independent research firm, has ranked Electric Cloud as a LEADER in the newly released report, “The Forrester Wave™: Continuous Delivery and Release Automation (CDRA), Q3 2017” by Robert Stroud and Chris Gardner.
The evolution of a market category
In last year’s WAVE, Forrester focused on Application Release Automation (ARA) as a way to deliver applications into production. This year, they have re-branded and expanded the scope of the report to focus on Continuous Delivery Release Automation (CDRA) – a subtle switch, but one which serves Electric Cloud very well given the breadth of features in our unified Dev-to-Prod automation platform.
According to the report, “The CDRA market is growing; organizations view these tools as critical building blocks of a continuous delivery and release automation pipeline. CDRA tools model, deploy, and visualize application pipelines, orchestrating existing tools. They also automate the entire delivery and release pipeline between development and production, supporting emerging use cases such as containers, microservices, test data management, and vulnerability tracking.”
The Forrester report continues, “In previous years, CDRA capabilities were the domain of separate tools — but that’s no longer the case. Organizations are transitioning to integrated tooling to deliver software with velocity across the complete life cycle, driving outcomes such as improved software quality.”
We believe giving teams a way to master CDRA is critical for any organizations wanting to deliver better software faster, more simply, and with less risk. We also believe being named a leader in this Wave evaluation validates what our customers have been saying, namely that taking a system level-view (not a silo’d approach) to deployment automation and release coordination is critical to successful continuous delivery.
Applying “System Level Thinking” at the CDRA tooling level
At Electric Cloud, we are laser-focused on creating DevOps Release Automation and Continuous Delivery solutions to help people take the rocket science out of CD, by providing a unified platform to increase the fidelity of process, artifacts and environment throughout the end-to-end software delivery lifecycle. ElectricFlow doesn’t create silos between the important and interrelated tasks of Deployment Automation and Release Coordination. Instead these two disciplines are seamlessly merged together in a single, easy-to-use solution that provides any team member involved in the application value stream with secure, shared control over the stacks – and tools – necessary to deliver high-quality software to market.
We also recently announced ElectricFlow 8.0 with DevOps Insight, a natively integrated Business Intelligence and analytics solution that automatically pulls data from DevOps stacks and tools and presents it to executives, administrators and engineers in simple, powerful dashboard views that help visualize the health and status of business value being included in every release.
