Executives constantly need to be prepared to lead the transformation of their software development, but challenges like communication, technological impediments, velocity of change and the changes in culture hinder this process.
The day following DevOps Enterprise Summit in San Francisco, Electric Cloud’s Strategic Advisor Gary Gruver will be leading an Executive Workshop on Leading the Transformation: “Applying Agile and DevOps Principles at Scale.”
The half-day workshop is designed to provide a common understanding of DevOps for the Enterprise and how executives can improve leadership of software development. Starting by reviewing the improvements that are possible, this workshop will highlight the challenges of the typical enterprise transformation.
Sharing his insights, Gary Gruver is not just a renowned author, but an experienced enterprise executive with a proven track record of transforming software development processes and working with executives in large organizations. He documented how HP revolutionized software development while he was the director for LaserJet Firmware development Lab at HP. As VP of QE Release, and Operations at Macys.com, he helped lead their transition to Continuous Delivery.
About the Executive Workshop
The Workshop takes place on Thursday, November 16th, conveniently located in the same hotel as DevOps Enterprise Summit San Francisco.
The workshop will focus on the changes that executives are uniquely positioned to address and will have the biggest impact on the business. Instead of the typical transformation that focuses on improving the effectiveness of individual teams this approach focuses the executives on engaging their management teams to improve coordination across teams with DevOps approaches. Furthermore, the approach will focus on the important cultural changes that require Executive leadership.
Providing an in-depth review of DevOps, the workshop will cover the different practices, and the different inefficiencies they were designed to address. It will highlight how and why DevOps principles can and should be different for coordinating the work across large and small teams.
The goal is to ensure everyone has a common understanding of the principles, practices, and a framework for discussing their improvements.
By the end of this workshop, executives should be ready to lead the transformation of their software development processes, have a common understanding of DevOps and the differences in approaches for coordinating small teams versus large teams, and a better understand the pitfalls of typical Enterprise transformations. Not only that but to have criteria for how to break the transformation of the Enterprise down into smaller more manageable pieces.
